SEC's Nazareth leaving agency
October 02, 2007: 12:29 PM EST

Oct. 2, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) --

WASHINGTON (AP) - Annette Nazareth, a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission, announced Tuesday that she is leaving the agency for the private sector. She is the second Democrat on the five-member panel to do so in a month.

Nazareth's term expired on June 5, but she could have remained for as many as 18 months beyond that. Nazareth has notified President Bush that she does not wish to be re-nominated, the SEC said.

There had been speculation for several months that Nazareth, who previously headed the SEC's market regulation division, would leave her commissioner post before year's end. Nazareth and Roel Campos had filled the two Democratic slots on the commission. Campos left last month; Bush has not yet nominated a successor.

The three other commission members, all Republicans, are SEC Chairman Christopher Cox, Paul Atkins and Kathleen Casey. Atkins has been under consideration by the White House to head another regulatory agency, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Nazareth has not set a date for her departure. Before coming to the SEC, she worked in the financial services industry, including at investment firms Smith Barney, a unit of Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) , and Lehman Brothers. (NYSE:LEH)

Reply: Good riddance. I doubt this is a coincidence.

Bud, this is like a dream come true. I wish I was a fly on the wall at the SEC and DOJ. If our government is really serious about cleaning up this country they have a great place to start. Problem is which government.

Reply: Send this one to your close relative, who should find it informative at a minimum. This is a stain on reputation of our very Government and all of us who have stood still without slapping someone's very face. The people here are vermin scum.

Bud,

The evidence is astounding. While the SEC delisted Eagletech, they knew that the stock was naked shorted, being manipulated and did nothing to stop the carnage. In fact, the only thing they did was to grandfather the fails and give the OMM an illegal exemption. The timing of the grandfathering makes the SEC complicit in this whole affair.

I am amazed that some attorney tried to get new shares issued to cover their naked shorts. How often does that happen? Is that a common occurrence?

Accolades to Rod for hanging in there and bringing this suit.

it's about time the crooks get thiers many a decent people have been hurt.enough is enough let's bring the town down.

Reply: It is like they are trying to cause a revolt. Insane, literally. I once observed a great line from the Movie "An Innocent Man", commenting on Prison. "It is an insane place, with insane people, behaving insanely. So it has its own kind of logic."

If this isn't the exact parallel in the real world, there isn't one. This is a corrupt environment, run by criminals, committing acts of wholesale corruption. So it has its OWN kind of logic. The Japan parallels are absolutely eerie. The entire developed world has institutionalized its forms of what we call corruption in the 3rd World. They just call their corruption taxes, fees, commissions, etc. It is cheaper to do business in Bangladesh than the US. And you get what you pay for there, unlike here.

Another top member of the s.e c. resigns.
I wonder how this hurts their game.
Not at all is my guess.
There will just be another willing party put in place to hold the same line.
"There is no problem in the american stock market the only companys complaining are those who are loosing money and the only people who are complaining are those who want their stocks to go up."
Let them eat cake.
I wonder who will deliver the line this time and what great job awaits them after they have finished delivering it.
I feel SO confident in our regulators and SO proud of their integrity to the american people .
I feel SO protected I think I'lll just relax and watch football or read about something really important like which celebrity is in trouble this week.
Nothing to see here folks, move along and don't bother trying to understand what is going on it might hurt your head if you think about it.
We get what we deserve when we refuse to stand up and try to stop a crime in progress, wether it is a old man being beaten in the street or a country being robbed by those in charge of enforcing the rule of law.
So have another beer in front of the game and enjoy your big screen T.V. in your home while it lasts, when the money is all gone from your retirement accounts the next thing to go will be your house ,job, car T.V. and yes even your beer money.
The more a robber gets away with the bolder they become.
Those who refuse to fight for what IS their property will end up with nothing.
Not even a crust of bread and a seat at the circus.
Practice your serf routine soon the kings will demand to see it.
